Wintertide

With the shortest day of the year not far off, winter has now very much claimed the land. The air is crisp, the nights are long, and the countryside is cloaked in the blue hush of wintertide.

Christmas, with its hope of warmth and wonder, is almost upon us. Here in Devon, the festive spirit is abundant, and it was such a heartwarming joy to see so many of you last week at my open studio event.

Last week, I had the pleasure of opening my workshop for a special one off event. It was a delightful experience to connect with all you fellow art enthusiasts and to share my creative journey with such a wonderful audience.

Displaying the variety of new work I’ve been busy painting all year was a truly heartwarming experience. I’m so grateful to everyone who took the time to visit. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me. I hope you enjoyed exploring my new collection as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life!

As always I find great inspiration in the changing seasons, and winter is no exception. Solace is plentiful in this tranquil season. Though these times can also be challenging, with sunlight scant and colour scarce, it’s the perfect time to mimic nature and to go inwards. A period of retreat and slowing down, it’s a season of quietude. The stark beauty of the landscape on a clear day, the storms howling at the windowpane, and the cosy glow of a fireside – these are the scenes that ignite my imagination.

As we approach the winter solstice, I encourage you to take a moment to slow down, appreciate the beauty around you, and let your creativity flow. Whether it’s through painting, writing, or simply spending time in nature, there are countless ways to connect with your inner artist.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May your days be filled with joy, peace, and inspiration.

Sending love and blessings,

Yvonne xxx
