Whispers of May, Dances of Summer

Dear Friends!

As May comes to a dizzying end, and with these sun drenched days its official that we’ve been swept into summer’s golden heartbeat. Landing back home after a busy month of open studios, I’m grounding into gratitude and savoring the last of the hedgerows bursting with campion, stitchwort, and the sweet, lacy froth of cow parsley.

I had a beautiful month connecting with so many of you and sending paintings to their forever homes, it has truly been a blessing. There is a moment, in May, when the Devon landscape simply explodes into life. And with the copious hot days we’ve had everything is suddenly humming with summertimes potent energy.

My new collection has been emerging with late spring inspiration, this time of year is all about harnessing that breathless, wild and utterly beautiful symphony of colour—and it is the very heartbeat of everything I paint.

For me, Spring and the impending summer are emotional landscapes. They represent an unyielding joy that demands to be thrown onto canvas. The vibrant living tapestries of the meadows surrounding my studio are getting transformed into a new sparkling collection. With larger canvases and plenty of smaller pieces to bring a slice of that eternal, sun-drenched Devon meadow into your home.

As we make that transition into the summertime, there’s a slower rhythm that follows, soaking up the heat and watching the wild grasses grow tall and sway gently in the warm breeze. I encourage you to let some of the outside in.

The sunshine reminds us to open our windows, let the breeze kick up the curtains, and invite the wildness inside. I hope you can find some time to listen to the hum of nature and let your heart be filled with the wild, beautiful joy of it all.
