Exhibiting at the Midsummer Wealden Times Fair 2016

I am delighted to be among the talented throng of makers which embody this year’s Wealden Times Fair from Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th June 2016 at Hole Park Gardens in Rolvenden. Since the first Wealden Fair in June 2007, there have been two annual celebrations of beautiful arts and crafts in Kent; the Wealden Midsummer Fair and the Wealden Midwinter Fair, held in June and November respectively. The fairs were started by the Wealden Times magazine as a way to encourage their readers to further connect with the gardens, homes and lifestyle featured in the magazine each month and, in their words, to “live the Wealden Times dream”!

Location of Wealden Times Fair 2016

The Weald is situated between the chalk escarpments of the North and South Downs in the green and pleasant county of Kent.  The name ‘weald’ means ‘woodland’ in Old English and during days of yore this stunning stretch of countryside was rich with forestry and covered in woodland. Hole Park Gardens is hosting this year’s Wealden Times Fair, and the backdrop couldn’t be more exquisite; the privately-owned 15 acres of gardens play host to a treasure trove of floral beauty (including my favourite, the stunning bluebell woods) which will be in full bloom at the time of the summer fair. I have been working on lots of new work to exhibit at this summer’s Weald Fair in Kent, all inspired by the delicate beauty found in the wildflower meadows and lush woodland which thrive in the bucolic British countryside. The idyllic setting for this year’s fair will no doubt prove inspirational and beautifully reflect the flowerscapes I have been working hard to create in preparation for this spectacular annual event.

Over 150 hand-picked exhibitors are featured at the Kent Weald Fair, each selling a bevy of beautifully-created contemporary and vintage homewares, artisan foodstuffs, fashion, jewellery and of course, original artwork. Exceptional quality, good craftsmanship, originality and fine design are all essential qualities of products sold at the fairs, and the event has become so hugely popular that the organisers launched an online marketplace so that visitors to the Weald Fair are able to peruse and buy the hand-picked wares all year round.
