Totnes and Dartington Open Studios – All Welcome!
Our Open Studio event at the end of May never fails to open my heart. It is always so wonderful to meet the lovely people who follow my work. It also feels very special to welcome people into our home. Totnes and Dartington Open Studios brings together an interesting mix of media; painters, ceramicists, printmakers, sculptors and jewellers.
Mike Boyer, my husband, will be exhibiting alongside me and is a very accomplished artist in his own right. He inspires me on so many levels and his explorative, quirky magical realism paintings are both humorous and thought provoking. I love his work.
Last years open studio was a great success and it was an honour to share my work with you. We look forward to welcoming you again this May.
Choosing the Perfect Painting
It is undoubtedly a big deal investing in an original work of art, it has to be true love, nothing less. It may be an immediate decision or you may need some assistance. Therefore a bespoke piece could be the answer. The Totnes and Dartington Open Studios 2019 event is an ideal opportunity to discuss your requirements with me. I will be able to point you in the right direction for you to secure the painting you have always dreamt of. One that will melt your heart forever.
Limited Edition Prints and New Originals
I will also have the complete selection of my limited edition prints available. My newest print, “Your Love is King” is a total celebration of the purity of sweet gentle love. I will also have a small selection of sparkling original paintings that I created especially for this May’s Totnes Open Studios 2019.
Archive Paintings
During the weekend I am also delighted to be offering some older paintings. These pieces hold so many precious memories for me and have been stepping stones for my artistic journey.
As a special gesture for Totnes and Dartington Open Studios 2019 I have decided to offer a selection of canvases at discounted prices. So if you’ve been looking for a bit of a bargain, now’s your moment!
The Linen Meadow Collection
I will also be showcasing my linen Meadow Collection which is my spacious new work that sings in both traditional and contemporary settings.
Why not Make a Weekend of it?
Totnes is such a special town; wonderfully vibrant, it was the first Transition Town in the country. It is full of independent shops, cool cafes, hip bars and contemporary galleries (including Yvonne Coomber Art Gallery!) It also hosts a market twice-weekly where you can discover vintage treasures and feast on organic produce. And all of this on the edge of the magical River Dart!
Time Magazine famously declared Totnes the ‘capital of New Age chic’ whilst Highlife, British Airway’s magazine, voted it one of the world’s Top 10 Funky Towns. And I have to agree, but maybe I am biased!
There is no denying however, that being an artist in Devon really is magical, particularly in springtime with the hedgerows tumbling violet bluebells, pink campions, yellow primroses, snowy wild garlic and frothy cow parsley all showing off. It is no wonder it has long inspired so many artists. Indeed, the Arts has a long association with Totnes starting with Dartington Hall in the 1920s and the Elmhurst’s and continuing to thrive today. This small town is overflowing with artists who live and work here, drawn to its breath-taking beauty and ethos of tolerance and magic.
It feels such a privilege to be part of that artistic community and be exhibiting on the Totnes and Dartington Open Studios 2019 colourful and vibrant trail.
I hope to meet you in May,
Love and blessings,
Yvonne xxx
