“Paradise” Solo Art Exhibition in Brighton
My Solo Contemporary Art Exhibition in Brighton
“What a strange thing!
to be alive
beneath cherry blossoms”
Kobayashi Issa, Poems
“It is Spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart”
Rainer Maria Rilke
I am so thrilled to be exhibiting in my old home town this spring. Brighton is edgy, colourful, quirky, experimental, bohemian and flamboyant and in many ways I feel defined by my years in this magical town. My years living in Brighton have shaped me as both a person and an artist and has provided a rich, fertile ground for my creativity. Lazy seaside days, star-studded ocean skies, midnight skinning dipping, buskers to make your heart melt, street performers, free beach parties, the emergence of the dance music scene, cool clubs, watercolours and drawing all form my kaleidoscopic memories of this time. With an active underground scene and a strong focus on community, my time in this Sussex town gave me an opportunity to flourish and grow. Brighton has a deep acceptance of difference and challenge of discrimination and this gave me courage to make a stand for the good in human nature. It is not only a place seeped in memories but also represents a cornerstone in my artistic career and where I immersed myself into the world of painting. Having attained a degree in Brighton University in my early twenties in philosophy and literature I then went on to study Fine Art for five years after the birth of my daughter Poppy. This training became the springboard for my career today. And so it is with utter delight that I announce another solo contemporary art exhibition in Brighton at the Art5 Gallery which commences on 9th April 2016.
The Art5 Gallery in Brighton
Following last year’s success of my solo show in Sussex at the Art5 Gallery, this art exhibition in Brighton entitled “Paradise” will showcase an exclusive new collection of my sparkling signature flowerscapes, as well as dreamy landscapes and lively abstract pieces. I have loved creating the work for this show and I have felt woven into nature itself whilst it has emerged. I always paint outside and it has been wonderful to embrace the increasing light, new buds sunshine showers between the rain, and even the odd rainbow to influence my palette! The exhibition will be full of springtime hope and each canvas is saturated in love. My work is primarily a celebration; a feast of colour and sparkles. A place to plant dreams.
Art5 Gallery is situated in the heart of Brighton in the famous Lanes, the famous historic quarter which is a fabulous maze of twisting alleyways and a renowned shopper’s paradise; full of hidden treasures, vintage heavens, cool bars and funky coffee houses. It literally buzzes. Brighton is truly a wonderful place for artists and, over the past twelve years, Art5 Gallery has established itself as one of Sussex’s leading contemporary art galleries and represents a diverse selection of national and international artists. I am proud to say that the gallery has always supported me and is a long-standing exhibitor of my paintings and amazing advocate of my contemporary artwork.
Gallery owner Paola Calise kindly comments, “We’re very excited to be hosting another solo exhibition of acclaimed artist Yvonne Coomber. Her paintings are increasingly sough-after and we’re proud to be the foremost exhibitor of Yvonne’s work in the South for the past eight years”.
My art exhibition in Brighton is at the Art5 Gallery which is open from 10am until 6pm every day (except Sundays when it opens from 11am-5pm). The show will run from April 9th until 30th May. There will be a private view on Friday 8th April between 6-8pm; get in touch with Art5 Gallery for an invitation! Art5 Gallery is at 5 Bartholomews, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1HG.
I hope lots of you can make it, I look forward to meeting you
With love and many blessings,
Yvonne xxx
