A Midsummer Reflection from the Devon Meadows.

Dear Friends!

As we ease past the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year and a potent marker of midsummer—a heady magic flows through the Devon landscape. The golden warmth that lingers late into the evening instills in me such inspiration and deep love for the untamed wild here. As an artist, this solstice season is a beautiful crescendo, with the hedgerows practically bursting, the meadows singing, and the countryside is alive with its peak growth. Painting remains a big part of my summertime, bringing the essence of the season onto canvas and echoing the tangled layers of the Devon countryside.

The coincidence of these midsummer celebrations with such a strong June heatwave has felt incredibly profound—bringing a sense of humility over its sheer intensity. Yet, as we transition through the shortest nights of the year, where the earth and sky seem to merge into one, I am trying to stay cool and finding hope in this full, vibrant symphony.

Inspired by the sheer abundance of life, the scarlet poppies dance against the breeze, the plucky foxgloves at the edges of the woods, and oxeye daisies blanket the garden in brilliant white. I am excited to share that a brand-new collection will be emerging online. These pieces are drenched in the spirit peak summer—swirling with the intoxicating magic of June meadows, whispers of wild rose, and the brilliant, chaotic dance of nature in full bloom.

This season reminds us to slow down and drink in the light. Midsummer is a gentle invitation to pass long hot nights under the lilac sky with loved ones.

Wishing you all a magical, luminous Midsummer. May your days be filled with color, wonder, and a little bit of wildness. Stay cool, drink in the light, and leave a little water out for the birds and the bees.

With love and warm solstice light,
